Have you ever seen fish with a funny nose? The Pom-Pom is one of the cute and unique fancy goldfish. With bundles of loose fleshy outgrowths which are enlargements of the nasal septum.

Pom-Pom goldfish are very similar to the Lionhead when is comes to body type. It has an egg-shaped body and possesses twin-tail fins and a double anal fin. Of course, the most distinctive feature is its fleshy nasal outgrowths.

This cute goldfish is available in many color variations that include orange, yellow, black, silver or white and blue. If kept in a well maintained goldfish aquarium these can grow up to 4-6 inches and live up to 10-15 years is very common.

Pom-Pom goldfish are one of the slow-swimming gentle fish. It cannot compete with faster goldfish like Common, Shubunkin or Comet because of its body type.

Be careful with its nasal outgrowths because the can get scratched in sharp objects or decorations in the aquarium.

This goldfish is recommended for the more experienced aquarists.

Mixing

Best tank mates for the Pom-Pom goldfish are the Fantail, Ranchu, Black Moor, Oranda and other twin-tailed goldfish.

Please do not mix with faster goldfish varieties. It's not too competitive wen feeding and it might starve of get very stressed.
